School Admission Dilemma: A Parent's guide
Admission season has arrived. It brings excitement and tension both at the same time to almost all the first time parents and those parents who wish to change the schools for their wards. Largely there are two options before the parents to choose schools i.e. branded Public schools and reputed Public schools. It is understood that almost all the parents wish to choose a good and established public school which focuses on quality education. They start shortlisting them according to the brand value and past record of the school. To decide a good school becomes a herculean task for the parents. The latest reports suggest that Parents sometimes get panicked as they wish to go for a few selected brands.
As an educationist we understand the importance of the good quality education, and we also understand that how a quality school can impart the new learning and cultivate new thoughts in young minds. School is a platform for immense creative possibilities. If harnessed properly school can play the biggest role in changing the society and the nation. We often call schools as personality building factories where minds can be shaped in the desired manner. Focus on quality education especially at the young age is extremely crucial. Of late we as a society have started understanding the importance of primary and pre-Primary education. In changing times when technology and digitization are bringing a rapid evolution and revolution in all spheres of human lives this becomes all the more necessary to keep our children competent by providing equally stimulating environment and learning.
The question arises how to define a good quality school and how to measure them. A good quality school can be defined on these following parameters:
- Language training,
- IQ (Intelligence Quotient) enhancement,
- Brain mapping,
- Logical reasoning,
- Skill development, and
- Skill building.
These above scientific concepts must be an integral part of any modern education and training adopted by a good quality school. Conventional method of education fails to bring the desired change in the mental shaping and thought process. Language training must include, diction, enunciation and pronunciation training. IQ is a born skill, but this can also be enhanced up to five-six years of age by certain methods and teaching aids. Teachers and educationists must implement new teaching methods that focus on expanding the IQ and reasoning. This training requires constant up-skilling of the class teachers and mother teachers. Skill building and personality development must start from an early age and this is a gradual process which happens by providing the ignited atmosphere. A school must constantly strives to provide a catalytic environment.
I strongly advise the parents to choose schools on these criteria to build the foundation and a promising future for their children.
