75 Years of Education after Independence

We as a nation are celebrating 75th Republic Day in January 2023. A lot has happened since 1950 when our country became a constitutional democratic republic. A new country which became free from the clutches of British colonial mindset is still struggling to prove its true identity as it should have been even after more than seven decades of independence. This remains a debatable issue that whether the path chosen by our leadership after Independence was a right one or not. I strongly believe that we as a nation lost many opportunities after Independence where we could have driven the country towards a rapid growth lane especially in the field of social and economic development. There is no denying that development for the country as a whole depends on the development of each and every individual of the country. This mainly depends on the training and education of each and every citizen. Sadly, we as a nation failed to understand this and we did not focus on building a very sound and robust inclusive education sector. The political hegemony of the then ruling party which got the opportunity to shape the country did not use the underlying potential and left it to grow on its own tiring speed. The small pussy result made them happy and they remained satisfied somewhat. There has never been a great push on education reform until the last decade. Even now reform on education and training pattern is a glaring need of the hour. The growing unemployment is posing the biggest challenge and an immediate resolution is needed. If we analyse this challenge, we find the remedy of this mammoth issue lies in the education system of our country. The approach of an educated youth needs to be changed from a job seeker to a job giver. This cannot happen overnight. The change must be started from the early education and training.
